Promoting Your Agency with Blogging

A blog is more than just a forum. According to Jeremy Bloom, who is the owner of www.myvirtualwebstaff.com, "In one way, a blog is a forum. It allows you to easily say something on a web page, and people can make comments. But I don’t see a blog that way at all. It can also be one way communication where you do not allow comments. It’s more like publishing a web page."

I published this blog in a matter of minutes. Ok, so maybe the look isn't great - but I used a simple template, added some information about me and my company, and then started posting to my blog. That's what you are seeing right now. You can post an article from one of your affiliates. Or, you can give a summary to a news article and provide a link to the entire article (See CNN Article on Blogs).

Once you have a blog, there are some simple ways to promote your site.
  • Create RSS feeds for each of your categories for those with specific interests.
  • Ad "email notification" to supplement people who don't do RSS yet. It automatically emails them when you make a post.
  • Submit to any and all blog/RSS search engines.
  • Take part in other blogs to promote yours.
  • Add audio/video content.
